The Most Unpleasant of Unpleasant Truths

The One Who Always Comes for You in the End.

I’ve covered this particular topic many times in the past. The most recent was here. I’ve also mentioned it to my e-mail subscribers on more than one occasion as well.

Why do I keep going over it? Why do you see, hear, and read other Men talking about it? It’s because it’s that important and if you don’t recognize it, realize it, and most importantly, do something about it, you’ll never change. You’ll never get better than what you already are.

What is it that I’m talking about?

You are where you are in your life because of you and the choices you have made thus far. In short, your life is your fault. All of it.

Only you can decide for yourself if and when you want to do something different. Only you can give up your excuses. Until you do, you will stay right where you are. You will do nothing different, you’ll be nothing different, and you’re life will continue to go down the path that it is on. For some of you, that means your life will go nowhere.

Then one day you will die. And that will be it.

Over.

Finished.

Done.

When are you going to do something different? On your deathbed? Nice try, but too late then.

What are you putting off doing today for tomorrow?

Let me take the suspense and the drama out of it for you. There’s no tomorrow. There’s no, and I mean, ZERO guarantee that you’ll be around tomorrow.

Is this “too heavy” for you? Too serious? Too “dark?”

I’ve got news for you. I don’t care what you think about it. Neither does life, nature, the Universe, or what we know as reality, care either.

So what’s stopping you? Fear? Shame? Guilt? Mom and Dad’s approval? What excuse are you using to stop from truly living?

When are you going to do what you truly want to do? 5 years from now? 10? 20? Never?

If you are going to live your life trying to “do the right thing,” if you are going to live for someone else’s expectations, if you are going to live to “serve other’s,” guess what? You might as well not be alive at all.

If you want to serve other’s, you have got to serve yourself first. In order to give someone else 100%, you’ve got to give 100% to yourself first. Whatever you are giving to yourself is the most that you can give to someone else.

Giving yourself 50%? That’s the maximum you can give to other’s. 25%? Less? That’s all you will be able to give to other’s. At a maximum.

Stop putting off your life. Stop procrastinating. Go pick up chicks. Start your own business. Go travel and see sights and do the things you’ve always wanted to do. Stop seeking approval from other’s. Stop waiting around. Time is NOT your friend on this one.

You can always make more money. You can always get another job. You can always start another business. You can always get another woman. You can always get into another relationship. You can always make new friends.

You can’t, I repeat, you cannot get your time back.

5 Unpleasant Truths – 9

  1. Most of what you read, see, or hear won’t work for you. It’s bullshit. It’s one man’s take. It’s one author’s opinion. It doesn’t mean don’t try it out, or give it a shot, it just means that you have to do the work and find out what works for you.
  2. You’ll have to do a lot, and I mean A LOT of digging, searching, reading, watching, listening, and trying different things out to see what works for you. It can wear you out. Don’t let it. You’ll have to wade through a lot of fluff, filler, and bullshit to get to the kernel of truth inside.
  3. You got yourself where you are, right now, today. Your life, for better or worse, is YOUR FAULT.
  4. No one but you can turn your life around. No one but you can dig you out. You are on your own.
  5. There WILL be setbacks. There WILL be obstacles. There WILL be failures. There WILL be defeats. You will screw shit up. Royally sometimes. That’s okay. Keep going. Persevere.

Situational Awareness

The Unwashed Masses

I was at the post office the other day with the girlfriend so that she could pick up a package and I was noticing all of the people around me.

First off, the unwashed masses are just that. Unwashed. Somebody was funking. And I mean bad.

The next thing I noticed was how everyone else there was literally a zombie. Heads down, headphones on, staring at their phones, worshiping at the altar of Facebook, Twitter, whatever. And a thought occurred to me: No one is paying attention to what is going on around them. I could massacre these people if I was so inclined. I could rob these people if I was so inclined. I could do all sorts of fucked up shit and no one would notice or be able to stop me until it was too late.

I didn’t do anything of the sort of course, but I could have. We shuffled along and got the package and went on our merry way.

Why am I bringing this up? What’s the point?

The point is this:

The majority of people are sleepwalking through their days. They have absolutely no idea what is going on around them. They really have no clue.

Don’t be one of them.

Pay attention to your surroundings. Be aware of what is going on around you. Put your phone away, take your headphones off. Know what’s up.

It could save you from becoming a statistic. It could save you an injury or your own death. It could save the lives of those you hold dear.

When I used to work in the armored car industry we were trained to have our heads on a “pivot.” We would constantly be swiveling our heads from side to side, up and down, back and forth. We would be constantly scanning our surroundings, looking for potential threats.

Learn to do the same. It’s not hard really, but if you haven’t done this before, it will take some practice and some getting used to.

Same goes for when you are riding a bike, a motorcycle, or driving your car. Keep scanning ahead. Keep your eyes moving. Keep checking your mirrors. I don’t know how many accidents I have avoided by simply doing this.

It still amazes me the lack of attention or the amount of distractions people have when driving in a vehicle. Talking on their phones, staring at their passengers while they talk, not paying attention to what’s right in front of them. Dealing with kids in the back seat, putting on makeup, eating, texting, drinking, reading a fucking book. Changing their clothes. I’ve pretty much seen it all.

When you have situational awareness, you can literally see the future. You’ll see what’s coming up, you see what’s next. You’ll be able to act instead of always reacting. You’ll develop a superpower. It will give you the ability to choose what to do next. You’ll be able to avoid a lot of bullshit, or you’ll be able to choose how to handle it if it is unavoidable.
